Photography & Digital Imaging by Jim Stewart

Useful sites: Photography and Equipment

Photo-i.co.uk : useful site for reviews of printers, scanners, etc. inc. regular "interactive" reviews

Useful sites: Photoshop and Digital Image Processing

PhotoshopNews : news, gossip (and a degree of self-indulgence) from the top Photshop gurus

PixelGenius.com : Home of the excellent PhotoKit Sharpeners - if you only buy one Photoshop plug-in...

Dr. Brown : the inimitable Doc. provides a wide rnage of tips, tricks and well-thought-out procedures for getting more out of Adobe's flagship product

Ian Lyons : Tutorials, essays, reviews and a whole heap of stuff from one of the UK's leading writers on digital techniques, colour management, Photshop and Lightroom

Gary Ballard : Gary's rants about Photoshop have often helped me out in my struggles to control the beast

Luminous Landscape : Michael Reichmann is a fine photographer who knows Photoshop and Lightroom backwards. Useful Forum too on this site.

Digital Outback : Another site stuffed with useful advice and guidance, - also hardware reviews & good Forum

Scanning : Wayne Fulton's site was the best source I encountered when struggling with film scanning

And then there's Lightroom : Adobe's next-generation photographer's app

Sadly, Bruce Fraser, self-confessed "colour geek" and pre-eminent author on Photoshop and all things digital-imaging, died on 16th Dec 2006. I learnt more about the mysteries of Photoshop, colour management, and a range of related matters from Bruce's writings, in books and online, than from anyone else. His writings are witty, lucid and supremely informative. Oh, and he built the PhotoKit Sharpeners (see above).
